Short Film Production Grant
One 25k grant plus mentorship to help get your short film from pre-production through post-production. This grant is given on a first-come basis and are limited to U.S. citizens for now. We hope to be able to expand this next year.
ABOUT
Now more than ever it’s important to get our stories as BIPOC disabled individuals created and distributed, which is why Alice Wong and Shaina Ghuraya have made this program. This grant is designed to help a filmmaker or filmmaker team from pre-production to post-production and through the festival submission process. We define a short film as one that is at or under 10 minutes. The filmmaker will be expected to attend mandatory, bi-weekly, virtual mentorship sessions.
During these sessions:
We will help you create actionable goals with deadlines and assist you in meeting them
You will communicate any updates and challenges you are having
We will provide resources to help you find your crew, manage your film budget, and obtain gear
We will give advice on the creative side of your film
In order to apply for this grant you must have a short film script written that has not been filmed yet, and be willing to modify the script depending on the program’s notes. If selected as a fellow, we would have an executive producer credit on the final version of the film.
The rough timeline for this grant is as follows:
August 25th applications close and interviews will be held the following week
September-October is pre-production
November is production
December is post production
January is the festival submission process
If selected as a fellow, the money will be given in four installments:
$5,000 in September
$10,000 in October
$5,000 in November
You will need to provide a breakdown of the costs of your production
$5,000 in December
The fellowship formally ends in February 2026
